Library @ Your Door Delivery

For library cardholders residing within the Kent City School District, the Kent Free Library will deliver library materials to your home if you are unable to leave home due to a permanent homebound condition, or a temporary condition that will last for six weeks or more (please note that lack of transportation alone is not a valid reason to request delivery).

The Outreach Librarian will conduct a brief interview with you about your material preferences. The Outreach Librarian will then select books and other library materials specifically for you and deliver them to you door.

For library cardholders residing outside the Kent City School District, the Library offers Homebound Selection Service. The Outreach Librarian will select materials specifically for you, for your designee to pick up and return.

Qualifying for Service

To qualify for either Library @ Your Door Delivery or Selection Service, participants must:

  • Live in the Kent City School District
  • Meet the Medicare definition for homebound*
  • Have a current Kent Free Library card
    * Medicare Definition of Homebound: Leaving your home isn’t recommended by your physician because of your condition; or your condition keeps you from leaving home without help (such as using a wheelchair or walker, needing special transportation, or getting help from another person); or leaving home takes a considerable and taxing effort.
