
Computers, laptops, and Wi-Fi access are available for library patrons.
Public Computers
The library has computers available for public use:
- 6 workstations on the first floor
- 16 workstations on the second floor
- 4 game computers in the Children's Department featuring ABCmouse.com
To log on to a computer:
- A library card is required to log on to public computers, except in the Children's Department
- If you do not have a library card, a guest pass may be requested at an Information Desk
There is no time limit for computer use. However, if all computers are occupied use will be limited to 2 hours. Computers offer access to the Internet and Microsoft Office products. Limited technical support is available.
USB storage devices and ear buds are available at the 2nd Floor Information Desk for a small donation fee. Donations benefit the Kent Free Library Foundation.
Laptops
The library has 12 laptops available at the Information Desk on the first floor for public use.
To use a laptop:
- Laptops are available to active cardholders, ages 18+, with less than $10 in fines on their account
- A photo ID is required to borrow
- Use is limited to 2 hours (may be extended if all laptops are not in use)
- Reservations may be requested up to 7 days in advance
- Laptops are for in-library use only
- Limited technical support is available
- Users are expected to have familiarity with computers
- Do not leave a laptop unattended, you may be charged for the replacement cost if lost or for failure to return
- Return the laptop in the same condition it was loaned–report any damages upon check out to staff immediately or you could be charged for damages
- Return the laptop at least 15 minutes before the library closes
- Removing a laptop from the building may be considered theft
- Save files, downloads, or other personal information to a USB device. Files and downloads are deleted when a session expires
- Borrowers are subject to the library’s Acceptable Use Policy

Wi-Fi Access
Wi-Fi is available throughout the building, in the library's parking lot, and under the Main Street portico with no sign-in or password needed. Connect to the network Kent Free Library.
